RESULTS:
-
Congratulations! To GM Alex Moiseyev from Dublin, OH, our tournament
winner of our NC State Open Tournament and as our
2025 North Carolina State Champion
was MS Teal Stanley from Greensboro, NC as 2nd place winner and Dr. John Webster from Stoneville, NC as third place Master and
Glenn Fuquay from Elon, NC as fourth place
as our 2025 North Carolina State Majors Champion.
Buck Smith from Millsboro,
VA finished fifth place.-
We only had 6 players this year, so we discussed and decided in the business
meeting to play a one day, 5 round tournament.
The tournament was 5 rounds of Round Robin while keeping the 3-Move Restriction format, at 2½ hours per round (1¼ hours) per game.
-
Players used required clocks set as 35 minute + 3 second per move per side for the GDT
North American time clock and 37 minutes for the decrementing digital clock.
The tournament ran smoothly and stayed on schedule.
-
All players paid a $25 entry fee except NC Life Memberships who were exempt
from entry fee (John Webster,
Teal Stanley, JR Smith, and Glenn Fuquay).
-
The $1,050.00 prize fund was reduced from advertised $1,300 because we
were playing a single day tournament and only 5 of the scheduled 7
rounds, ≈ 70%.
-
Gayle brought a veggie tray, dips, crackers, & cheeses and cooler of
bottle water. Hotel furnished hot fresh coffee in the lobby.
-
We appreciate
Dave Beachy who contributed $100 for our Saturday pizza lunch which
we moved to Friday. All players appreciated this delightful treat. Gayle
also supplemented our Sir Pizza lunch with salads & cookies.
-
The Pop Top Championship Tournament in Waxhaw, NC - May 31st was
announced and Southern Open in Lebanon, TN - July 25 & 26 was also
announced. This will be Larry Keen's last Southern since the past number
of participating players no longer justify the cost of the playing room
at Comfort Suites in Lebanon
.-
We offer a big Thank You to all who help make this tournament a success,
especially Gayle, our score-keeper and referee.
